Badarwas Jackets Producers Company Limited is a collective of skilled rural artisans reviving the legacy of jacket-making in Badarwas, Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, an emerging hub known for producing the iconic sleeveless “Modi Jackets.” What began in 2004 as a small-scale initiative has grown into a vibrant cluster producing nearly 20,000 jackets daily, powered by over 4,000 artisans.
Formed under the National Rural Economic Transformation Project (NRETP) under Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Govt. of India with support from Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (MPSRLM) and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), the cluster brings together 350 trained women artisans from 25 villages of Badarwas into a structured, community-led business. This was born from the need to shift the power back into the hands of producers ensuring fair wages, dignity of labor, and sustainable livelihoods.
By managing the entire value chain from raw material sourcing to design, production, and marketing the cluster envisages to reinvest profits into artisan welfare and enterprise growth. Our Common Facility Centers (CFCs), modern tools, and skill-building initiatives help us deliver better quality, more diverse products while scaling up for national and global markets.
At Badarwas Jackets Producers Company Ltd. we’re not just making jackets, we’re stitching together resilience, empowerment, and opportunity for generations to come.
